Garden designer and Geranium expert based in Hampshire.
Mary is early 40's
After working in photography for 20 years and being in the process of raising two young children
I had decided to follow my life long passion, gardening.
I made an attempt to break into the world of horticulture in my early 30’s whilst enjoying a stint at
The Chelsea Physic Garden but (happily!) children came along.
This break from work deepened my resolve to heed my passion and I returned to school
at Sparsholt College to gain my diploma from the Royal Horticultural Society.
When the offer came up to continue my studies with Gardens Weekly under
the tutelage of Chris Bird I grabbed the opportunity.
Whilst I have made great friends and invaluable contacts from my fellow students on the course I have gained a much needed insight into the world of design, something the RHS diploma only skimmed the surface of.
Above all the course has given me a much needed boost of confidence in my own skills and knowledge on the subject of garden design and how to interact with clients.
I can now walk into a garden, take measurements and draw a plan to scale.
I now look forward to creating planting plans according to the wishes and budget of my clients.
I cannot recommend this design course highly enough.
