Your Design Course Trainer - Chris Bird


Chris is senior lecturer at the well respectedSparsholt College near Winchester he holds a Master of Horticulture (Royal Horticultural Society) qualification and he holds the Certificate in Education (Cert Ed),(the professional qualification for teaching of adult learners in the United Kingdom).


His specialisms include garden design, plant nomenclature & selection, nursery stock, fruit & vegetables, soil science, pest & diseases, plant propagation, garden ecology & soft landscaping, plant design & landscape history, garden conservation & restoration, technical pruning & organic gardening.


Chris is also a Royal Horticultural Society question setter, examiner and external verifier. He is a member of the Institute of Horticulture and a multiple gold medal winner at the RHS Chelsea Flower show, coordinating a large themed college display every year. He has a proven track record in teaching and learning as well as speaking extensively on Horticultural issues. He is a popular teacher who enables students to learn.
